My name is Isabel, I have graduate in architecture in Spain, & I have a MFA in Lighting Design at Parsons (New York). I am currently working at Dot Dash, an architectural lighting design firm located in New York.
Growing up in Spain, I have I have always been surrounded by great architecture. However, it wasn't until I became interested in light design that I understood how Spanish architecture is influenced by this theory. As a Mediterranean country, the weather, most importantly the sun plays a significant part in the lifestyle and culture. The intricate effect of light and shadow. The humanistic aspect of light. This correlation has made me realize that light plays an important part in the way people perceive their surroundings.
I know that great architecture isn't just great design but the feeling it evokes in others. The best way to manipulate architectural design is through the usage of light. Light in essence transforms architecture. My goal as an architect is to embrace light so that one perceives their surroundings more positively.
I have a critical spirit, that compels me to learn new things every day. I love to be continuously stimulated and challenged. I know the value of hard work y best of all, is that I enjoy it. I love to be surrounded by creative environments.
I have learned skills that range from day to day communication, time management and organization, conflict management, and team work. All gnarled from time spent working in the studio in small groups for various projects.
